I listened carefully. As the streets grew quiet, i peered through my window to see not a soul in sight. Thinking for once they would remain this way, i found myself standing at the front door.

I unlocked the door, slowly turning the nob. I opened the door cautiously, feeling the cool,fresh breeze blow upon my face. As i breathed deep through my nose, the smell of fresh air suddenly changed to smoke. Within seconds, the screams of people began again. I slammed the door shut as fast as i possibly could, quickly turning the lock.
